My full name is Roos Ait Moh Nait Lhaj – Nijs. A beautiful and long surname that I owe to my husband. I married Hamid over 42 years ago and we are still very happy. Together, we have two sons Tarik and Samir and can proudly call ourselves grandparents. I love them! It’s a joy to have grandchildren like Jazz (12), Jelaara (11) and Lola Rose (9).
I have been working as a receptionist at TICA in Venlo for five years now. Together with my reception colleagues, I am the first point of contact for TICA members who have been buying from us for years, but also for those who visit the branch for the first time. I talk to so many people in one day; it’s great fun.
Years ago, I saw a vacancy at TICA come up through Indeed. I applied. I was actually surprised to receive an invitation for an interview. After all, I was already 61 at the time. Apparently, that doesn’t matter at TICA because I was hired!
I find that really hard to say about myself! When it comes to my work at TICA, I think I am proud of the fact that I always remain friendly to our TICA members. This is in my nature, so is that something you can be proud of?
We obviously have so many different exhibitors at TICA, but when I think about it now, I like the items from MrsBLOOM, Dutch Style, Light & Living, Colmore and Kersten the best.
Next May I will reach my retirement age, but would very much like to continue working. I really enjoy my job and like to be busy. However, I also like to ‘do nothing’ from time to time. Then I watch a feel-good movie on Netflix.
Very good. We give a lot to each other and also see each other outside working hours. With Doortje, for example, I once visited a Motown night (with Motown music) in the Maaspoort in Venlo. My son was playing there and we decided to go to his performance together. I also went with Doortje to a breakdance performance by her son. Very nice to see each other’s children ‘shining’.
Then I help out at my brother and his son’s company. This is a fashion wholesaler, which I also enjoy doing. I also try to walk a lot. At TICA, I always take a walk in the lunch break. Then I only have 10 minutes for lunch, but I think it’s important to get enough exercise. If I am free, I can walk straight from my house to the Venlo Heath. Besides, I am a real family man!
When we sit at the table with the whole family. I enjoy that immensely! My eldest son works at a music venue in Venlo and my other son is a DJ/music producer and travels the world (Moksi). When it is convenient, we then also like to look after our grandchildren. My husband is retired and often picks them up when I have to work. Sometimes they stay over afterwards; very cosy. Besides my (grand)children, I also have one lovely daughter-in-law. In short; I have a very nice family!
The Tombola! During this ‘TICA madness’, every colleague has a chance to win several items (that can no longer be sold) from the cash & carry. I also really appreciate it when we are unexpectedly sent a present home or receive a bonus.
