Volcanic petrified

NAQI-Limited offers a range of petrified wood products, including discs, plates, bowls and tables. This unique type of wood is mainly created by volcanic activity, where the wood is buried in ash and sealed off from oxygen, allowing it to petrify without disturbance from fungi or bacteria.

Water permeates the wood, laden with minerals from the volcanic ash, such as silicon, iron and copper, which transform the wood’s cellular structure into a stony mould and add various colours to the petrified wood.

Petrified wood can be found anywhere in the world where there is volcanism. Indonesia is an island kingdom with thousands of volcanoes so one finds a lot of petrified wood there, although only a fraction is suitable for processing.
