My name is Minke van Dijk and I am 20 years old. I have been working at TICA since November 2022, I can actually always be found at the Aalsmeer branch. Within TICA, I have various positions. For example, I work at the Atrium (the epicentre of this branch), I focus on exhibitor service and I also work at the Coffee Corner every now and then.
After graduating from the Fashion Manager course at Jan Des Bouvrie College last year, I began my search for a fun new job. I was already familiar with TICA because I used to go there from time to time. I decided to check the website for vacancies. Initially, I applied for the position of Cashier. During the job interview, we discussed what I like to do, which activities at TICA could use an extra colleague and how we could be the best match for each other. Gradually, in consultation, it was decided that my job would be somewhat broader and I really like it so far.
The most enjoyable part of my job at TICA is the creative part. This includes styling the stands of the various exhibitors as well as coming up with new ideas to make the stands even more attractive. Ultimately, of course, the aim is for an inviting stand to persuade TICA members to make a purchase. I also occasionally work at the Coffee Corner. I also really enjoy this because I have a lot of interaction with TICA members there.
Every day, of course, I come into contact with many, many brands. Hard to choose from them. Besides, the range of brands also changes monthly. My favourite brands at TICA at the moment are; A-Journal, Broste, Kersten, Sisi House of Style and the books by Kitchen Trend.
The Look, Feel & Buying Days! During these days it is always very cosy and busy. TICA members, exhibitors and colleagues meet each other and there is lots to do; workshops, tastings and lots of new collections. Elisa, the Event Markteer at TICA, asked me to give a demonstration as a ‘tufter’ during one of the last editions. With tufting, you use a tufting gun that shoots yarn from fabric onto a canvas with every ‘shot’. In addition, what I always find very funny is that we are already decorating the Christmas tree in July. Both branches in Aalsmeer and Venlo are then transformed into a ‘winter wonderland’. There are Christmas trees and nutcrackers everywhere, while outside everyone is on the beach. Very funny!
When asked this question, the black and white striped pattern (which can be found in the premises) actually comes to mind immediately. What I also find typical for TICA are the trends that vary throughout the year. This keeps it always surprising and fascinating for TICA members too! The atmosphere within the team is also ‘Typical TICA’ for me. It is always pleasant and there is a nice atmosphere.
