TICA Talent | Madelon Hendrix – MADRIX

Twice a year, we highlight a TICA Talent; these are start-up, small brands. This time, that TICA Talent is Madelon Hendrix, a passionate designer who lovingly brings vintage designer clothes to new life, both by hand and behind the sewing machine. Her journey began while studying International Fashion Design, where she launched her own brand MADRIX by upcycling clothes in 2023. With an eye for modernisation, she noticed during her side job in disability care that wheelchair jackets could use some flair. On Instagram, she shares her creations, with videos harmonising with the beats of old-school hip-hop, connecting diverse audiences with her beloved creations.

The story behind Madelon Hendrix – MADRIX

Madelon Hendrix has had her own brand Madelon Hendrix – MADRIX since 2023. With two diplomas under her belt, including VeVa Verzorgende-IG and International Fashion Design, she combines her passions. Her love for fashion started with mixing colours and patterns in her own wardrobe. While studying fashion and working at care institution Daelzicht, the idea for personalised wheelchair jackets was born. The focus on sustainability during her final internship led to the pleasure of crafting (vintage) clothes, resulting in unique local items.

One-of-a-kind items

Madelon Hendrix – MADRIX offers a unique range, with each item having a one-of-a-kind character. While requests are certainly welcome, she likes to let her creativity run wild with the pieces currently hanging in the shop at TICA. Sourcing comes mainly from local businesses with various brands, ranging from damaged vintage designer pieces to almost new items with minor imperfections, which are then reworked and finished with a Madelon Hendrix patch made from leftover materials. The selection is always surprising and varies in styles, unbound by seasons. Among the brands you may come across are Burberry, Levi’s, Carhartt, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Stone Island, Nike, Obey, HUF and Dolce&Gabbana.

From young to old

Madelon Hendrix – MADRIX’s clientele is diverse and appeals to different audiences. From the care sector, where Madelon still works, she attracts parents and colleagues. The older generation, such as grandparents who are skilled in clothing repair, understand the time and care required to repair clothes flawlessly. Youth, who dress in a variety of styles, are also among her customers. There are also those concerned with sustainability and aware of the abundance of clothes in the world. The diversity of her clientele is also reflected in the variety of brands she uses.

Small collections

TICA members can soon look forward to a diverse selection of collections. As a one-man business, it may not be able to deliver in very large quantities unless on demand. Nevertheless, it offers a wide range of outerwear and outerwear. What stands out is that each time the collection will be different, which means new and unique pieces will always be available for purchase.
