Saskia Leemans is a professional gift wrapper who has been creating the most delightful designs for years. She believes in the power of a small gesture to surprise someone. Her love for wrapping began during her work at a perfumery, where customer service and gift wrapping were top priorities. Over the years, Saskia has further developed her craft and considers it important to inspire and help others. Whether through workshops, courses, or her wrapping service, Saskia enjoys sharing her expertise and passion with others.
“Sustainability is central when it comes to the wrapping trends of 2024,” says Saskia. While all wrapping paper is now FSC-certified, you also see alternative gift wrapping materials entering the market, such as wicker or grass paper, or twine instead of ribbon. There are also certain trends in creative design. In terms of colors, you see many pastels, but also prints featuring drawn flowers, botanical prints, or plant species. As in fashion, you often see the same colors recurring.

Saskia primarily focuses on stores and businesses, where she helps teach wrapping skills, but also offers wrapping services during busy periods. In her workshops, Saskia emphasizes the importance of harmony between materials and design: “I consider how the paper interacts with other materials. The busier the paper, the simpler I keep the wrapping without too much decoration. While I’m a fan of ribbon, I always look for a matching combination that will exude elegance.” If you want to be less trend-sensitive, choose plain paper and coordinate the ribbon with the current trend, as this is easier to adapt.
The impact of proper wrapping presentation is important for the shopping experience, Saskia explains: “Customers are delighted by a beautifully wrapped gift. When the wrapping materials align with your store’s aesthetic, I absolutely believe in their added value.” It’s also important that the person behind the counter can wrap any desired item beautifully and easily without feeling insecure or appearing clumsy.
Want to start a kind gesture well? By learning and practicing quick and efficient methods, you can ensure customers are served promptly without compromising on quality. At the same time, adding a personal touch is essential to leave a lasting impression. “By paying attention to details and the presentation of the gift, you can convey a feeling that the recipient will appreciate,” says Saskia.
