Ceramics Limburg – founded in the historic village of Tegelen – has been the specialist in machine-made and handcrafted ceramics since 1978. As a manufacturer, they supply earthenware and stoneware to numerous companies, retailers, and garden centers throughout Europe. Their appreciation for craftsmanship is at the core of their quality and is reflected in their ever-surprising and changing collections. This is also evident in their new colorful plant pots, striking (wall) plates, and handmade pottery that perfectly match TICA’s Festival Vibe theme. TICA’s editorial team spoke with the team about the company’s origins, the ever-changing market, and their new collection.
Brands you’ll find at the Ceramics Limburg stand are Gina Da and 1240C.
‘Typical TICA for us is; the great diversity! Both from the brand and product offerings to the diverse purchasing needs of TICA members.’
For that, we need to go back almost fifty years. In 1978, Harry Sloesen and Mia Sloesen-Ernst founded the ceramics production company. Perseverance and unconditional love for the craft characterized this period. Twenty years later, they passed the baton to their sons, and since 1998, Tony Sloesen has been the company’s owner. Until that same year, ceramic production still took place in Tegelen. However, a new era began, and machine production was forced to relocate to Romania.
No, since 2012, we as a team have moved closer to production again, and currently, all our own productions are made exclusively in the Netherlands and Portugal. Largely handmade, by the way.

Tony Sloesen is the company owner and focuses on artisanal ceramic production with over 35 years of experience. He is also the contact person for Belgium and all other countries. For many TICA members who shop in Aalsmeer, Henk Louwe is a familiar face, and Ceciel Dielen, together with her team, is the point of contact at TICA Venlo. Claudius Gmerek is our contact for Southern Netherlands and Germany. Of course, we have more colleagues at headquarters; Bert, Maria, John Wessel, Senna, and Noah.
Our goal is to provide all customers with quality, sustainable, and responsible ceramic products. That’s why we present a new, timeless, and colorful ceramic collection every six months, designed in the Netherlands and produced in our own factories.
Our collections primarily consist of flower pots, vases, bowls, and plates, which is why many florists, garden centers, concept stores, and other green professionals purchase from us. We love to see our customers happy; we do a lot to keep these buyers satisfied. We’ve maintained excellent relationships with many of them for years.
Since 2010, we’ve been present at TICA Aalsmeer and TICA Venlo. We’re pleased that this allows us to serve customers who need smaller quantities as well. Every customer deserves the same attention, and the service TICA provides aligns with what we stand for. TICA is always in motion, keeps a close eye on the market, and responds to the continuously changing world. That’s really great!
We maintain a timeless collection based on smaller trends and, of course, tailored to our customers’ needs. However, we find it important to always produce our own ‘music,’ as we call it. We follow our own course, and apparently, it works; our customers keep coming back.
Lots of color! Our newest ceramic collection is brighter in color than usual, allowing us to respond well to the latest trends and our customers’ needs. There’s also more diversity in shapes available.
The ceramic collection will be supplemented with seagrass baskets and macramé-made pots and hangers during the summer months. In mid-summer – July and August – we will present the renewed ceramic collection.
Indeed! In 2023, we opened our own restaurant SOBER, located right next to our atelier in Tegelen. Our customers can visit the atelier by appointment, with excellent coffee and fresh Limburgian pie, and then conclude their visit with a delicious dinner at restaurant SOBER. Only local products are used here, and our guests can enjoy our homemade Limburgian wine from ZAVEL.
Incorporate plenty of greenery in every space of your shop, restaurant, or showroom. It really adds an extra touch to your interior. We were at the Salone Del Mobile in Milan in mid-April, and it was emphasized again; green styling will remain extremely relevant in the coming years.
